यदहङ्कारमाश्रित्य न योत्स्य इति मन्यसे ।
मिथ्यैष व्यवसायस्ते प्रकृतिस्त्वां नियोक्ष्यति ॥ ५९ ॥

yad ahaṅkāram āśritya
na yotsya iti manyase
mithyaiṣa vyavasāyas te
prakṛtis tvāṁ niyokṣyati

Synonyms

yat — if; ahaṅkāram — of false ego; āśritya — taking shelter; na yotsye — I shall not fight; iti — thus; manyase — you think; mithyā eṣaḥ — this is all false; vyavasāyaḥ — determination; te — your; prakṛtiḥ — material nature; tvām — you; niyokṣyati — will engage.

yat — wenn; ahaṅkāram — beim falschen Ego; āśritya — Zuflucht suchend; na yotsye — ich werde nicht kämpfen; iti — so; manyase — du denkst; mithyā eṣaḥ — dies ist alles falsch; vyavasāyaḥ — Entschlossenheit; te — deine; prakṛtiḥ — materielle Natur; tvām — dich; niyokṣyati — wird beschäftigen.

Translation

If you do not act according to My direction and do not fight, then you will be falsely directed. By your nature, you will have to be engaged in warfare.

Wenn du nicht Meiner Anweisung gemäß handelst und nicht kämpfst, wirst du in die Irre gehen. Es ist deine Natur, daß du kämpfen mußt.

Purport

Arjuna was a military man, and born of the nature of the kṣatriya. Therefore his natural duty was to fight. But due to false ego he was fearing that by killing his teacher, grandfather and friends he would incur sinful reactions. Actually he was considering himself master of his actions, as if he were directing the good and bad results of such work. He forgot that the Supreme Personality of Godhead was present there, instructing him to fight. That is the forgetfulness of the conditioned soul. The Supreme Personality gives directions as to what is good and what is bad, and one simply has to act in Kṛṣṇa consciousness to attain the perfection of life. No one can ascertain his destiny as the Supreme Lord can; therefore the best course is to take direction from the Supreme Lord and act. No one should neglect the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or the order of the spiritual master, who is the representative of God. One should act unhesitatingly to execute the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead – that will keep one safe under all circumstances.

ERLÄUTERUNG: Arjuna war ein Krieger und hatte von Geburt an das Wesen eines kṣatriya. Deshalb war es seine natürliche Pflicht zu kämpfen. Doch aufgrund von falschem Ego befürchtete er, sündhafte Reaktionen auf sich zu laden, wenn er seinen Lehrer, seinen Großvater und seine Freunde tötete. Er hielt sich selbst für den Herrn seiner Handlungen, als ob er ihre guten und schlechten Ergebnisse bestimmen würde. Er vergaß, daß die Höchste Persönlichkeit Gottes vor ihm stand und ihm die Anweisung gab zu kämpfen. Das ist die Vergeßlichkeit der bedingten Seele. Die Höchste Persönlichkeit Gottes lehrt uns, was gut und was schlecht ist, und man braucht nur im Kṛṣṇa-Bewußtsein zu handeln, um die Vollkommenheit des Lebens zu erreichen. Niemand kennt sein Schicksal, doch der Höchste Herr kennt das Schicksal aller. Deshalb ist es das beste, sich vom Höchsten Herrn unterweisen zu lassen und dementsprechend zu handeln. Niemand sollte die Anordnung der Höchsten Persönlichkeit Gottes oder die Anordnung des spirituellen Meisters, der der Stellvertreter Gottes ist, mißachten. Man sollte der Anordnung der Höchsten Persönlichkeit Gottes ohne Zögern nachkommen; so bleibt man unter allen Umständen in Sicherheit.
