What Arjuna saw was indescribable, yet Sañjaya is trying to give a mental picture of that great revelation to Dhṛtarāṣṭra. Neither Sañjaya nor Dhṛtarāṣṭra was present, but Sañjaya, by the grace of Vyāsa, could see whatever happened. Thus he now compares the situation, as far as it can be understood, to an imaginable phenomenon (i.e., thousands of suns).
ERLÄUTERUNG: Was Arjuna sah, war unbeschreiblich; trotzdem versucht Sañjaya, Dhṛtarāṣṭra eine Vorstellung von dieser großen Offenbarung zu vermitteln. Weder Sañjaya noch Dhṛtarāṣṭra waren auf dem Schlachtfeld zugegen, doch durch die Gnade Vyāsas konnte Sañjaya alle Geschehnisse beobachten. Daher vergleicht er jetzt die Situation, soweit sie überhaupt verstanden werden kann, mit einem vorstellbaren Phänomen (nämlich mit Tausenden von Sonnen).
