वेदानां सामवेदोऽस्मि देवानामस्मि वासव: ।
इन्द्रियाणां मनश्चास्मि भूतानामस्मि चेतना ॥ २२ ॥

vedānāṁ sāma-vedo ’smi
devānām asmi vāsavaḥ
indriyāṇāṁ manaś cāsmi
bhūtānām asmi cetanā
베다남 사마-베도’스미 vedānāṁ sāma-vedo ’smi
데바남 아스미 바사바하 devānām asmi vāsavaḥ
인드리야남 마나스 짜스미 indriyāṇāṁ manaś cāsmi
부따남 아스미 쩨따나 bhūtānām asmi cetanā

Translation

번역

Of the Vedas I am the Sāma Veda; of the demigods I am Indra, the king of heaven; of the senses I am the mind; and in living beings I am the living force [consciousness].

모든 베다 중에서 나는 사마베다이며, 데바 중에서 나는 천국의 왕 인드라이며, 여러 감각 중에서 나는 마음이며, 여러 생명체 가운데 나는 생명력(의식)이니라.

Purport

주석

The difference between matter and spirit is that matter has no consciousness like the living entity; therefore this consciousness is supreme and eternal. Consciousness cannot be produced by a combination of matter.

영혼과 물질의 차이는 물질은 생명체처럼 의식을 가지고 있지 않다는 점이다. 따라서 이 의식이라는 것이 최상이며 영원하다. 물질을 결합해 의식을 만들어낼 수 없다.
