Es heißt, daß die Seele unsichtbar, unbegreiflich und unwandelbar ist. Da du dies weißt, solltest du nicht um den Körper trauern.

ERLÄUTERUNG: Wie zuvor beschrieben wurde, ist die Seele für unsere materiellen Maßstäbe so klein, daß sie nicht einmal mit dem stärksten Mikroskop gesehen werden kann; aus diesem Grunde heißt es, sie sei unsichtbar. Ihre Existenz kann nicht auf der Grundlage von Experimenten bewiesen werden, sondern nur auf der Grundlage von śruti, der vedischen Weisheit. Wir müssen den Beweis der śruti als Wahrheit annehmen, weil es keine andere Wissensquelle gibt, um die Existenz der Seele zu ermitteln, obwohl ihre Gegenwart aufgrund der Symptome, die wir wahrnehmen können, unbestreitbar ist. Es gibt so viele Dinge, die wir allein auf der Grundlage höherer Autorität akzeptieren müssen. Durch die Autorität der Mutter erfahren wir von der Existenz unseres Vaters. Die Mutter ist die einzige Autorität, die uns sagen kann, wer unser Vater ist. Ebenso gibt es keine andere Möglichkeit, die Seele zu verstehen, als die Veden zu studieren. Mit anderen Worten, die Seele ist durch das experimentelle Wissen des Menschen nicht zu erkennen. Die Seele ist Bewußtsein und ist bewußt – auch dies ist eine Aussage der Veden, und wir müssen sie als Wahrheit annehmen. Im Gegensatz zum Körper, der sich wandelt, unterliegt die Seele keiner Wandlung. Weil die Seele ewig unveränderlich ist, ist sie im Vergleich zur unendlichen Höchsten Seele immer atomisch klein. Die Höchste Seele ist unendlich groß, und die atomische Seele ist unendlich klein. Da die unendlich kleine Seele unwandelbar ist, kann sie der unendlichen Seele, der Höchsten Persönlichkeit Gottes, niemals gleichkommen. Dieser Punkt wird in den Veden auf verschiedenste Weise wiederholt, nur um die Unveränderlichkeit des Begriffs der Seele zu unterstreichen. Wiederholung ist notwendig, damit wir ein Thema tiefgehend und fehlerfrei verstehen können.

As described previously, the magnitude of the soul is so small for our material calculation that he cannot be seen even by the most powerful microscope; therefore, he is invisible. As far as the soul’s existence is concerned, no one can establish his existence experimentally beyond the proof of śruti, or Vedic wisdom. We have to accept this truth, because there is no other source of understanding the existence of the soul, although it is a fact by perception. There are many things we have to accept solely on grounds of superior authority. No one can deny the existence of his father, based upon the authority of his mother. There is no source of understanding the identity of the father except by the authority of the mother. Similarly, there is no source of understanding the soul except by studying the Vedas. In other words, the soul is inconceivable by human experimental knowledge. The soul is consciousness and conscious – that also is the statement of the Vedas, and we have to accept that. Unlike the bodily changes, there is no change in the soul. As eternally unchangeable, the soul remains atomic in comparison to the infinite Supreme Soul. The Supreme Soul is infinite, and the atomic soul is infinitesimal. Therefore, the infinitesimal soul, being unchangeable, can never become equal to the infinite soul, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This concept is repeated in the Vedas in different ways just to confirm the stability of the conception of the soul. Repetition of something is necessary in order that we understand the matter thoroughly, without error.
