bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam
dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ
yena mām upayānti te

Til dem, der konstant hengiver sig til at tjene Mig med kærlighed, giver jeg den forståelse, gennem hvilken de kan komme til Mig.

To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

FORKLARING: I dette vers er ordet buddhi-yogam meget betydningsfuldt. Vi husker måske, hvordan Herren i kapitel 2 under Sin instruktion af Arjuna fortalte denne, at Han havde talt til ham om mange ting og nu ville instruere ham i buddhi-yogaens vej. Her bliver det forklaret, hvad buddhi-yoga er. Buddhi-yoga er i sig selv handling i Kṛṣṇa-bevidsthed. Det er den højeste form for intelligens. Buddhi betyder intelligens, og yoga betyder mystisk handling eller mystisk ophøjelse. Når man forsøger at komme hjem, tilbage til Guddommen, og engagerer sig fuldstændigt i Kṛṣṇa-bevidsthed i hengiven tjeneste, kaldes ens handling for buddhi- yoga. Buddhi-yoga er med andre ord den metode, hvorigennem man slipper ud af den materielle verdens forvikling. Det endelige mål for alt fremskridt er Kṛṣṇa. Dette ved folk ikke. Derfor er det vigtigt med hengivnes selskab og omgang med en ægte åndelig mester. Man skal vide, at målet er Kṛṣṇa, og når målet er fastlagt, tilbagelægges vejen langsomt, men sikkert, indtil det endelige mål er nået.

In this verse the word buddhi-yogam is very significant. We may remember that in the Second Chapter the Lord, instructing Arjuna, said that He had spoken to him of many things and that He would instruct him in the way of buddhi-yoga. Now buddhi-yoga is explained. Buddhi-yoga itself is action in Kṛṣṇa consciousness; that is the highest intelligence. Buddhi means intelligence, and yoga means mystic activities or mystic elevation. When one tries to go back home, back to Godhead, and takes fully to Kṛṣṇa consciousness in devotional service, his action is called buddhi-yoga. In other words, buddhi-yoga is the process by which one gets out of the entanglement of this material world. The ultimate goal of progress is Kṛṣṇa. People do not know this; therefore the association of devotees and a bona fide spiritual master are important. One should know that the goal is Kṛṣṇa, and when the goal is assigned, then the path is slowly but progressively traversed, and the ultimate goal is achieved.

Når man kender livets mål, men er knyttet til sine handlingers frugter, handler man i karma-yoga. Når man ved, at målet er Kṛṣṇa, men finder tilfredsstillelse i at forstå Kṛṣṇa gennem intellektuel spekulation, handler man i jñāna-yoga. Og når man kender målet og udelukkende søger Kṛṣṇa igennem Kṛṣṇa-bevidsthed og hengiven tjeneste, handler man i bhakti- yoga eller buddhi-yoga, der er den fuldkomne yoga. Denne fuldkomne yoga er det højeste fuldendte stadie i livet.

When a person knows the goal of life but is addicted to the fruits of activities, he is acting in karma-yoga. When he knows that the goal is Kṛṣṇa but he takes pleasure in mental speculations to understand Kṛṣṇa, he is acting in jñāna-yoga. And when he knows the goal and seeks Kṛṣṇa completely in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and devotional service, he is acting in bhakti-yoga, or buddhi-yoga, which is the complete yoga. This complete yoga is the highest perfectional stage of life.

Måske har man en ægte åndelig mester og er med i en åndelig organisation, men hvis man stadigvæk ikke er intelligent nok til at gøre fremskridt, vejleder Kṛṣṇa én indefra, så man i sidste ende kan komme til Ham uden større besvær. Det eneste, der kræves, er, at man altid engagerer sig i Kṛṣṇa-bevidsthed og med kærlighed og hengivenhed tjener Kṛṣṇa på alle mulige måder. Man skal arbejde på en eller anden måde for Kṛṣṇa, og det arbejde skal gøres med kærlighed. Hvis en hengiven ikke er intelligent nok til at gøre fremskridt på selverkendelsens vej, men er oprigtig og har helliget sig til den hengivne tjenestes aktiviteter, giver Herren ham en chance for at gøre fremskridt og til sidst nå Ham.

A person may have a bona fide spiritual master and may be attached to a spiritual organization, but if he is still not intelligent enough to make progress, then Kṛṣṇa from within gives him instructions so that he may ultimately come to Him without difficulty. The qualification is that a person always engage himself in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and with love and devotion render all kinds of services. He should perform some sort of work for Kṛṣṇa, and that work should be with love. If a devotee is not intelligent enough to make progress on the path of self-realization but is sincere and devoted to the activities of devotional service, the Lord gives him a chance to make progress and ultimately attain to Him.
