bhūya eva mahā-bāho
śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ
yat te ’haṁ prīyamāṇāya
vakṣyāmi hita-kāmyayā

Translation

Guddommens Højeste Personlighed sagde: Lyt nu igen, O stærkarmede Arjuna. Fordi du er Min elskede ven, vil Jeg for din skyld tale videre og give dig en viden, der vil berede dig stor glæde.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Listen again, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Because you are My dear friend, for your benefit I shall speak to you further, giving knowledge that is better than what I have already explained.

FORKLARING: Parāśara Muni forklarer ordet Bhagavān således: Den, der har seks overdådigheder til fulde, dvs. har uindskrænket styrke, berømmelse, rigdom, kundskab, skønhed og forsagelse, er Bhagavān, Guddommens Højeste Personlighed. Da Kṛṣṇa var på Jorden, fremviste Han alle disse seks overdådigheder. Store vismænd som Parāśara Muni har derfor alle accepteret Kṛṣṇa som Guddommens Højeste Personlighed. Nu instruerer Kṛṣṇa Arjuna i en endnu mere fortrolig viden om Sine overdådigheder og Sine aktiviteter. Tidligere, fra og med kapitel 7, har Herren allerede forklaret Sine forskellige energier, og hvordan de fungerer. I dette kapitel beskriver Han nu Sine særlige overdådigheder for Arjuna. I det foregående kapitel diskuterede Han indgående Sine forskellige energier for at etablere hengivenhed på et grundlag af fast overbevisning. I dette kapitel fortæller Han så igen Arjuna om Sine manifestationer og forskellige overdådigheder.

The word bhagavān is explained thus by Parāśara Muni: one who is full in six opulences, who has full strength, full fame, wealth, knowledge, beauty and renunciation, is Bhagavān, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. While Kṛṣṇa was present on this earth, He displayed all six opulences. Therefore great sages like Parāśara Muni have all accepted Kṛṣṇa as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now Kṛṣṇa is instructing Arjuna in more confidential knowledge of His opulences and His work. Previously, beginning with the Seventh Chapter, the Lord has already explained His different energies and how they are acting. Now in this chapter He explains His specific opulences to Arjuna. In the previous chapter He has clearly explained His different energies to establish devotion in firm conviction. Again in this chapter He tells Arjuna about His manifestations and various opulences.

Jo mere man hører om den Højeste Gud, desto mere forankret bliver man i hengiven tjeneste. Man bør altid høre om Herren i selskab med hengivne. Det vil fremme ens hengivne tjeneste. Samtaler mellem hengivne kan kun finde sted blandt dem, der virkelig er ivrige efter at være i Kṛṣṇa-bevidsthed. Andre kan ikke deltage i sådanne samtaler. Herren fortæller Arjuna klart og tydeligt, at eftersom Han holder meget af Arjuna, er det for hans skyld, at disse samtaler finder sted.

The more one hears about the Supreme God, the more one becomes fixed in devotional service. One should always hear about the Lord in the association of devotees; that will enhance one’s devotional service. Discourses in the society of devotees can take place only among those who are really anxious to be in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Others cannot take part in such discourses. The Lord clearly tells Arjuna that because Arjuna is very dear to Him, for his benefit such discourses are taking place.
