so ’yaṁ samasta-jagatāṁ suhṛd eka ātmā
sattvena yan mṛḍayate bhagavān bhagena
tenaiva me dṛśam anuspṛśatād yathāhaṁ
srakṣyāmi pūrvavad idaṁ praṇata-priyo ’sau

Kéž je ke mně Nejvyšší Pán milostivý. Je jediným přítelem a duší všech živých bytostí na světě a všechny udržuje prostřednictvím Svých šesti transcendentálních vznešených vlastností, aby dosáhli konečného štěstí. Kéž je ke mně milostivý, abych mohl být jako dřív obdařen schopností vnitřního pohledu, nutnou pro tvoření, neboť také patřím k odevzdaným duším, které jsou Pánovi drahé.

Let the Supreme Lord be merciful towards me. He is the one friend and soul of all living entities in the world, and He maintains all, for their ultimate happiness, by His six transcendental opulences. May He be merciful towards me so that I, as before, may be empowered with the introspection to create, for I am also one of the surrendered souls who are dear to the Lord.

Nejvyšší Pán, Puruṣottama, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, udržuje všechny bytosti v transcendentálním i hmotném světě. Je životem a přítelem všech, neboť mezi živými bytostmi a Pánem věčně existuje přirozená náklonnost a láska. Je přítelem a příznivcem všech a je jeden jediný. Pán všude udržuje všechny živé bytosti prostřednictvím Svých šesti transcendentálních vznešených vlastností, díky čemuž je známý jako bhagavān neboli Nejvyšší Osobnost Božství. Pán Brahmā se modlil o Jeho milost, aby byl schopen stvořit vesmír, jako to učinil předtím — jedině Pánovou bezpříčinnou milostí mohl stvořit hmotné osobnosti, jako je Marīci, i duchovní osobnosti, jako je Nārada. Brahmā se modlil k Pánovi, protože Pán je odevzdané duši velice drahý. Odevzdaná duše nezná nic než Pána, a Pán je k ní proto velice laskavý.

The Supreme Lord, Puruṣottama, or Śrī Kṛṣṇa, is the maintainer of all, in both the transcendental and material worlds. He is the life and friend of all because there is eternally natural affection and love between the living entities and the Lord. He is the one friend and well-wisher for all, and He is one without a second. The Lord maintains all the living entities everywhere by His six transcendental opulences, for which He is known as bhagavān, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Lord Brahmā prayed for His mercy so that he might be able to create the universal affairs as he did before; only by the Lord’s causeless mercy could he create both material and spiritual personalities like Marīci and Nārada respectively. Brahmā prayed to the Lord because He is very much dear to the surrendered soul. The surrendered soul knows nothing but the Lord, and therefore the Lord is very affectionate towards him.
